31 August 2009 - Lloyd Parry

Grandma's Chevy was a (19)49 or (19)50 business coupe. I don't remember it having whitewalls. It was a pretty plain Jane. It had a straight blue flame six engine with a three speed standard transmission.
I rode with her to a reservoir. I don't remember, some mile, 6 or 9, and she scared the whoo-haw out of me trying to turn around on the dam. We caught no fish that day. I did learn that I didn't like as strong a cheese as she liked. . . it made my cheeks pucker so hard they touched inside my mouth.

Grandma's Car

Bevan just reminded me that his grandmother's cars were a 1939 Black Chevrolet Coupe, and a 1952 Gray or tan business Coupe. He ended up owning the 1939 car, and thinks that he probably drove the second one as well.

A story from Bevan"
One day Grandmother came into our house and asked "Could I help? I have a problem with my car." When I went outside with her the back end of the car was between the sidewalk and the ditch at the side of the road.
We had a small tree there, and it was sticking up between the bumper and the car, said car not being able to go forward or backward because the tree was too tough. The tree was about 3 inches in diameter.
I went a got a handsaw and sawed the tree off at ground level. I have no idea how she sould have gotten the car around the tree that way.
This was about the time she quit parking in the driveway. - Lois and Bevan Parry, 2 Mar 2010
